Pittsfield, MA –
For the past year, Kickwheel Ensemble Theater has been developing PASSAGE, a brand new physical theater comedy that explores the catastrophic history and politics of the melting Northwest Passage.
Bazaar Productions is proud to announce that this summer, we will be premiering PASSAGE right here in the Berkshires with a limited run of performances at Shire City Sanctuary in Pittsfield July 27th through July 31st.
PASSAGE is a satirical “climate change romance” that links past, present, and future. There are sea otters on Razor scooters, a TED Talk given by an ill fated naval commander, several appearances by a prestigious self-help guru and lots of trudging. It’s a play about human connections and finding what is lost.
“As a company, we are fascinated with the Northwest Passage because it features so many stories that display what makes us outrageously and distinctly human,” says director and co-creator Sara Katzoff. “History is messy. Politics are complicated. Climate change affects everyone, but the conversation around the topic is so dense, humorless and rife with doom that it inspires people to do...absolutely nothing. We want to change that!”
