About The Berkshire Fringe

In 2005, Bazaar Productions launched the first season of The Berkshire Fringe, a 21-day festival of theater, dance, music and multi-media works by emerging voices from across the United States. Taking place each July and August, The Berkshire Fringe has been recognized as a vital testing ground for new work that has hosted over 500 emerging performers and presented nearly 100 full-length original productions.

Dedicated to providing high quality, adventurous and affordable cultural enrichment, a core mission of The Berkshire Fringe is to engage the next generation of audiences and inspire diverse cultural dialog throughout our community. Free concerts and workshops, post show artists discussion and Pick Your Own Price nights are some of the many ways that everyone is made welcome.

While the festival model is often evolving in order to better serve the growing needs of the creative community, works presented at The Berkshire Fringe often come through an open submission process that encourages a diverse spectrum of artists to apply and insures that festival curators are able to present the most adventurous and exciting programming available.

Participating artists are given space to develop and perform new work, teach community workshops and invite audiences to engage more deeply in the creative process through open rehearsals and discussions---All of which are vital resources to new voices in the performing arts.

2012 marked the Berkshire Fringe's first season as an international festival welcoming theater makers from the United Kingdom, Korea and across the United States.

The Berkshire Fringe has been featured in the New York Times, the Boston Globe, the Berkshire Eagle, the Valley Advocate, Rural Intelligence, Metroland, Berkshire Living Magazine, Berkshire Magazine, the New York Sun, Chronogram, the Women’s Times, and has been featured on NBC News Channel 10's Mass Appeal, WAMC Northeast Public Radio and New England Public Radio.
